Welcome Back! Let’s Dive Into Another Prodeen AI Experience
I’m Gabriel, a food scientist here at Prodeen, and today I want to share my experience with another powerful playbook available on the Prodeen AI platform.
After the success I had using the Alternative Ingredient playbook, I decided to explore more of what the platform had to offer—and I wasn’t disappointed. In this post, I’ll walk you through how I used a different playbook to solve a real R&D challenge, and how it helped me save time, reduce guesswork, and improve the final result.
Let’s get into it!
Exploring Compliance with the “Compliance Checker” Playbook
One of my latest creations at Prodeen was the 3D Açaí — a fun, fruit-filled jelly candy with a liquid center and a unique three-dimensional shape. It brings out the authentic taste of açaí with just the right touch of guaraná, making it as flavorful as it is eye-catching.
To bring this concept to life, I used colorants and several functional additives like acidulants and stabilizers. And as any product developer knows, one of our biggest responsibilities is to ensure that every single ingredient complies with local regulations—not just whether it’s allowed, but also its maximum usage limits.
That’s where the “Compliance Checker” Playbook from Prodeen AI came into play.
For this product, I needed to verify compliance specifically with Brazil’s ANVISA IN 211/2023, under the 05.1.4 category (jellies). Instead of manually combing through technical documents and cross-checking limits, I used the playbook to review all my ingredients in just a few minutes.
It automatically pulled in the relevant data—including whether additives are permitted, their legal limits, and how they’re classified (e.g., Quantum Satis). It also flagged anything unusual for my review, so I didn’t miss a thing.
From Insight to Action: Validating My Formula
I validated the shared information using official Brazilian sources like ANVISA — basically double-checking the data provided by Prodeen AI against ANVISA’s guidelines. After that, I made the necessary corrections and updates so Prodeen would use the right limits in future evaluations.
Once everything was validated and the limits were fine-tuned (with a few improvement opportunities along the way), I had the AI take another look at my formula to make sure everything was good to go.
Prodeen automatically reviewed each additive concentration in my formula and compared it to the legal limits outlined by ANVISA. In just moments, I had a clear, itemized confirmation that every component was in full compliance—no manual calculations, no margin for error.
This kind of real-time regulatory validation not only saves time but also adds a layer of confidence that’s crucial in product development, especially when you're working with complex formulations or preparing for regulatory audits.
Here were some of the key insights from the report of my compliant formula:
- Citric acid, soy lecithin, sodium bicarbonate, and Caramel IV: Quantum Satis
- Carnaúba wax: maximum 5,000 mg/kg
- Colorants (Red 40 and Brilliant Blue FCF): maximum 300 mg/kg each
